The drain pump forces water out of the drum and through the drain hose at the end of every wash cycle. When it fails, you find standing water at the bottom of the drum after the cycle ends — the machine finishes its timer but never drains.
The most common cause is a clogged pump filter — blocked by coins, buttons, or lint — that prevents the impeller from moving water. Clearing the filter resolves the problem in many cases. When the pump motor itself has seized or burned out, the pump assembly needs replacement.
Our technician accesses the pump from the front panel (front-loaders) or by tilting the machine (top-loaders), clears any blockages, and tests drainage before leaving. Most drain pump repairs complete in a single visit.
